Chicken Dumplings (Gyoza)

These Chicken Dumplings or Gyoza recipe is based on traditional Japanese recipes. You can add a whole heap of herbs and spices to make it your own… you can even add some sake if you want to!
Ingredients:
- 500g Deagon Bulk Meats Chicken Mince
- 2cm Piece of Ginger – peeled, grated or 1 large Tbsp of crushed ginger
- 2 Garlic Cloves – crushed
- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 2 Sticks Spring Onions – finely chopped
- 1/2 Cup Cabbage – finely chopped
- 1 Large Carrot – finely grated
- 40 Gow Gee Pastry Wrappers – Coles or Woolworths supply
- Chilli Sauce or Soy Sauce to serve
Method:
- Finely chop & grate the spring onion, cabbage and carrot and place into a mixing bowl.
- Add ginger, mince, soy sauce & combine ingredients with your hands.
- Lay out wrappers on chopping board.
- Spoon 2 heaped teaspoons of mixture on 1 half of each wrapper. Complete all wrappers
- Brush the edges of the wrappers with cold water.
- Fold wach wrapper over to enclose the filling.
- Pleat the edges together to seal the wrappers.
- Steam the dumplings for 4-5 minutes. Optional: Fry dumplings on each side until brown.
- Serve with soy or chilli sauce & enjoy!
Hints:
- You can purchase dumpling moulds from Ebay to make this easier
- Try them in a dumpling soup!
