These Chicken Dumplings or Gyoza recipe is based on traditional Japanese recipes. You can add a whole heap of herbs and spices to make it your own… you can even add some sake if you want to!

Chicken Dumplings

Ingredients:

  • 500g Deagon Bulk Meats Chicken Mince
  • 2cm Piece of Ginger – peeled, grated or 1 large Tbsp of crushed ginger
  • 2 Garlic Cloves – crushed
  • 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 2 Sticks Spring Onions – finely chopped
  • 1/2 Cup Cabbage – finely chopped
  • 1 Large Carrot – finely grated
  • 40 Gow Gee Pastry Wrappers – Coles or Woolworths supply
  • Chilli Sauce or Soy Sauce to serve


Method:

  1. Finely chop & grate the spring onion, cabbage and carrot and place into a mixing bowl.
  2. Add ginger, mince, soy sauce & combine ingredients with your hands.
  3. Lay out wrappers on chopping board.
  4. Spoon 2 heaped teaspoons of mixture on 1 half of each wrapper. Complete all wrappers
  5. Brush the edges of the wrappers with cold water.
  6. Fold wach wrapper over to enclose the filling.
  7. Pleat the edges together to seal the wrappers.
  8. Steam the dumplings for 4-5 minutes. Optional: Fry dumplings on each side until brown.
  9. Serve with soy or chilli sauce & enjoy!

Hints:

  • You can purchase dumpling moulds from Ebay to make this easier
  •  Try them in a dumpling soup!
